Participant Testimonials

"I had looked at the Mid-Career Reflection programme for some months before writing in. The format — reading first, then discussion — took a little getting used to, but by the second session I understood why they do it that way. You arrive at the conversation differently when you've been reading the same material as the people around you. The journal has also been useful well beyond the programme itself."

"The Singapore Schemes workshop was two mornings well spent. I had tried to read CPF documentation on my own before and found the language difficult to get through without some kind of guide. Working through it with a facilitator who explained terms without telling you what to conclude from them was genuinely different from anything else I'd found. The printed binder is still on my desk."

"My husband and I did the Household Coordination workshop together. We had both assumed our money conversations were fairly well-managed, but sitting down with a workbook of scenarios revealed a number of things we'd each been handling with different assumptions. The conversation cards have come up at home more than once since."

"The four-month programme is a commitment, and I was unsure before starting whether I'd make the most of it. The pacing turned out to be the right choice for me — monthly sessions rather than a concentrated weekend meant I had time to think between each one. A few things in the readings stayed with me for weeks."

"What I appreciated most was that no one in the room had anything to sell. Other money-related events I'd attended always arrived at a product at some point. Here, the reading ended the session. I found that freeing — I could engage with the material on its own terms."

"The group was a mix of people I wouldn't have expected to find in the same room — different backgrounds, different household situations, different concerns. That variety was actually the most useful part of the discussion. The cohort format makes sense once you've experienced it."

Participant Journeys

From Enquiry to Completion

Case · Mid-Career Reflection Programme

Starting Point

A participant in her early fifties had been managing household finances largely on her own for several years. She found it difficult to talk about money with her adult children and had never been able to describe what her household's financial structures actually looked like from the outside.

During the Programme

Over four months, she worked through readings on household conversation rhythms and recurring money structures. The monthly worksheet cards helped her put into words things she had not previously articulated. The group discussion in the second and third sessions prompted her to revisit how she was describing certain household decisions.

What Changed

By the end of the programme, she had a clearer account of her own household's financial structure — not because she had been told what it was, but because the readings gave her a language for it. She enrolled in the Singapore Schemes workshop the following quarter.

"I came in not knowing exactly what I was looking for. The format gave me space to work that out."

Case · Household Coordination Workshop

Starting Point

A couple in their late forties attended the Household Coordination workshop. They had different approaches to household money management and found that most conversations on the subject became circular. They were not looking for advice — they wanted a structured way to discuss things.

During the Workshop

Working through the scenario workbook together, they identified where their assumptions differed and what language each of them used when discussing money decisions. The presence of other couples in the cohort made the discussion feel more ordinary — their situation was not unusual.

What Changed

The conversation cards have been used in at least three subsequent household discussions. They note that having a printed prompt changes the tone of the conversation — it is less personal and more structured, which they found helpful.

"We were not expecting to learn much about each other. We were wrong."
